Beijing Subway Line 5 is the fifth rail Line opened in Beijing, China. It is the first fast rail transit trunk Line in Beijing's rail transit network that runs through the center of the city and connects the northern and southern suburban areas. The whole Line was put into trial operation on October 7, 2007.
According to the official website of Beijing Metro in October 2020, Beijing Metro Line 5 runs north-south. The line is located in the east of the central axis of the city, connecting Fengtai, Dongcheng, Chaoyang and Changping districts in a north-south direction [3].
As of October 2020, Beijing Metro Line 5 has a total length of 27.5km. It starts from Songjiazhuang Station in Fengtai District in the south and ends at Tiantongyuan North Station in Taipingzhuang District in the north. There are 23 stations (including 13 transfer stations), 16 underground stations, 7 above-ground and elevated stations, and 6 B-train units.
On October 7, 2007, Beijing Metro Line 5 was opened for half a day, with a passenger volume of 340,000.
